A proud new day

With Obama's victory, older blacks in Baltimore reflect on how far they have come

"I didn't think I'd live to see it. ... I think it will be better than it is now. It can't be no worse," said Toy Farrar Jr., 80. (Baltimore Sun photo by Monica Lopossay / November 5, 2008)
They voted when they had to pay a poll tax for the privilege, sat in the back of buses, chopped wood to heat segregated schools and stayed indoors at night when the Ku Klux Klan was in town. (Read More)

Comment: As happy as I am to see America reach beyond the racial barriers that used to exist, I can honestly say that I'm glad a black man made it to the White House, I'm just not happy to see that it was Barak Obama, especially since he is for partial birth abortions.

Yes, I dare criticize, "The One".

His policies, are short of the mark for real improvement. The really sad part is and I'm sorry to say, that many of the interviews that were had with various people who supported Obama (unless they were politicians themselves) only revealed the mass ignorance or utter lack of interest in politics or policies.

The best policy anyone could come up with, when asked, "What they liked about Obama..." was his health care policy, where various people said that they hoped for the chance to get "free" health care. Even at that point, these same people openly stated that they had no real idea about Obama's health care policies. However because these people hoped for "Change", a change they could "Believe in", they were set on voting for him.

Well, here's a kick in the head for those who've been chanting "Change" all of this election period, nobody ever said that change would be for the "BETTER".

I'm going to point out another group of people eager for change:

The Russian Revolution of 1917 refers to a series of popular revolutions in Russia, and the events surrounding them. These revolutions had the effect of completely changing the nature of society within the Russian Empire and transforming the Russian state, which ultimately led to the replacement of the old Tsarist autocracy with the Soviet Union. (Wiki)

I'm not saying that we are headed for a revolution, but I have to question the socialist agendas being offered as solutions by the up and coming "policy makers", from health care to taxes, it just doesn't look good.

This is not just about Obama, nor politics, but about the signs of the times. The signs that lead us to wonder what will come next.

That said, as an American, I'm hoping for the best. That includes not being chipped for the sake of Medical Record "access improvements", not having the Patriot Act get further into our hair while casting aside our civil liberties, as well as the constitution. Last but not least, I'm hoping that by May of 2009 the dollar does not completely collapse and leave us with an Amero in it's place, perhaps leading us to further collapse and the use of a generic verichip for global cashless transactions.

Step one of this "technological transition" is already being implemented, through the development of national identification cards, some of which have already begun to store biometric databases. The step that would follow would be the actual chip implant, the transferring of already stored data and the chip being "registered" with an international database system.

Cheers to the new Era, though by the end of it, scripture might very well be fulfilled.
